Albright Memorial Library Will Be Closed Tuesday, November 11th, In Honor of Veterans Day

"College 101" Admissions & Financial Aid Thursday, November 6th at 6 PM

Albright Memorial Library, in conjunction with Penn State Worthington Scranton, will be presenting College 101 Admissions and Financial Aid on Thursday, November 6th at 6 PM.

This program is geared towards high school students and parents who want to learn about searching for, applying to, and financing college.

The life and times of Scranton native Patrick W. Costello (1889-1935) will be discussed, and some of his works shown by his great-grandson, Tom Costello.

Patrick W. Costello started work as a breaker boy in Scranton and became a nationally renowned pen and ink artist.

The Albright Memorial Library will be presenting this program jointly with the Lackawanna Historical Society.

This event is NOT handicapped accessible.

Price It! Subscription Will Not Be Renewed--Access Expires December 28th

The Reference Department has decided not to renew our subscription to Price It! Library and remote access to Price it! will expire on Sunday, December 28th.

One of our patrons was using one of these today to scan pages from local history books. It's called a DocuPen--it's the size of a pen and scans pages and documents in 4 seconds, then lets you uploads the images to your PC in less than a minute.

“Sock It To Us” Sock Drive in Library Lobby Now Through October 31st

The Voluntary Action Center of NEPA is once again holding a “Sock It to Us” sock drive. Now through October 31st, they will be accepting NEW socks…any size, color, style to help out human services agencies throughout Lackawanna County.

The "Sox Box" is located in the mail lobby at Albright Memorial Library.

Library Link of the Month: October Is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (www.nbcam.org)

Now in its second decade of public and professional education and awareness, October is promoted by 15 major national nonprofit cancer organizations working in partnership to raise awareness of breast cancer and to provide access to screening services.
