Albright Memorial Library Closing at 3 PM on Friday, May 28th

Albright Memorial Library will be closing at 3 PM this Friday, May 28th to set up for the Swingin' On Vine Library Fundraising Party.

It's not too late to get tickets in advance for $15. Tickets will be $20 at the door.

We hope to see EVERYONE there to support the library!

And don't forget the library will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday (May 29th, 30th and 31st).

"Swingin' On Vine" For The Albright Memorial Library Friday, May 28th, 5 PM - 8 PM

Kick off your Memorial Day weekend in the grooviest of ways and support your public library at the same time!

Swingin' On Vine is a block party in front of the library and on the 500 block of Vine Street to benefit Albright Memorial Library on Friday, May 28th from 5 PM to 8 PM. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available at Albright Memorial Library (500 Vine Street) and the Green Ridge Branch Library (Green Ridge Street and Wyoming Ave.).

Cocktails, noms from Scranton restaurants, live music by And The Moneytones, and a special guest appearance by Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin on NBC's The Office.

To Your Health! A Lecture by Jane Brody Thursday, June 24th at 7 PM at Scranton Cultural Center

She's been called the "High Priestess of Health" by Time Magazine. Her column on personal health appears every Tuesday in the New York Times, and her eight books on health and nutrition influence the way millions of people live - and with her latest book, the way they die.

Now Jane Brody is coming to share her views on healthy living with the people of Lackawanna County. She will be speaking on Thursday, June 24th at 7 PM at the Scranton Cultural Center as part of the Lackawanna County Library Lecture Series. Admission is FREE for Lackawanna County Library System cardholders.

however, computers will be available
in the Periodicals Room for use
until 5 PM

The next time you're unsure as to what days are "Parking Holidays" in the city of Scranton, check out the Scranton Parking Authority's website. The bottom of the page lists all meter parking holidays for Scranton (including today).

Library Will Be Closed May 29th, 30th and 31th for Memorial Day Weekend

Albright Memorial Library will be closed Saturday, May 29th; Sunday, May 30th; and Monday, May 31st in observance of Memorial Day.

"Swingin' On Vine" Party Friday, May 28th to Benefit Albright Memorial Library

5 PM - 8 PM

On Friday evening May 28th (5:00-8:00), the Library will kick off the arrival of summer with a “Swingin on Vine” block party. This will be similar to last year’s “Raising the Roof” party, except for the altitude! Great food from local restaurants, assorted wines, a featured cocktail, beer and live music – all for only $20 at the door or $15 if purchased before the event. The music will be provided by one of this area’s hottest bands “And the Moneynotes” And we just might have a “surprise celebrity visitor”!

So come and support your public library...and enjoy some great music and noms!

GrantStation, A New Grants Database, Now Available in The Reference Department:

Being a cooperating collection for the Foundations Center, the Reference Department at Albright Memorial Library now has access to a second grants database titled GrantStation., Inc. (GrantStation) offers nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies the opportunity to identify potential funding sources for their programs or projects as well as resources to mentor these organizations through the grantseeking process.

GrantStation provides access to a searchable database of private grantmakers that accept inquiries and proposals from a variety of organizations; federal deadlines; links to state funding agencies; and a growing database of international grantmakers.
