Pages & Places Cafe With Joe Peters Thursday, September 13th at The Radisson

In conjunction with Interdependence Day, the Lackawanna County Library System will be presenting Joe Peters as a speaker of the Pages & Places Cafe on Thursday, September 13th at the Platform Lounge in the Radisson Hotel.

The lecture, "We're All In This Together: Interdependence In A Dangerous World," will feature Joseph C. Peters: former cop, prosecutor, top DEA official and terrorism expert to two presidents.  Join him for a lively discussion about the state of the world.

The program will begin at 7 PM, with a Cocktail Hour preceding the event at 6 PM.

Periodicals Room Closed Until 4 PM This Thursday, August 30th

The Periodical Room in the Reference Department will be closed from 9 AM until 4 PM this Thursday, August 31st for a program.

Printing and photocopying will still be available to the public.

Socrates Cafe Thursday, September 20th at 6:30 PM In Community Room

The next Socrates Cafe will be held on Thursday, September 20th at 6:30 PM in the Community Room (basement of the Lackawanna County Children's Library). This event is handicapped accessible.

Facilitated by Professor Phil Jenkins from Marywood University, Socrates Cafe brings together people from all walks of life and experiences to raise questions, listen to, and discuss a topic chosen by the group that evening.

Pages & Place Cafe Talk On Scranton Reads Book Thursday, September 27th at Radisson

In conjunction with Scranton Reads, the Pages & Places Cafe will present "Building Cultural Understanding: The Role of Curandera in 'Bless Me, Ultima' by Rudolfo Anaya" on Thursday, September 27th at 7 PM at the Platform Lounge in the Radisson Hotel.

The program is free and open to the public.

The presenter, Dr. Agnes Cardoni, is Assistant Professor of English at Marywood University, where she specializes in Medical Humanities and Teacher Education.

Join Dr. Cardoni for a discussion of this year's Scranton Reads selection and the roles of the healer woman in literature,

The program will begin at 7 PM, with a Cocktail Hour preceding the event at 6 PM.

Handicapped Computer Access Available In Children's Library During Library's Elevator Construction

During elevator construction at Albright Memorial Library, handicapped computer access is available in the Lackawanna County Children's Library.

With the exception of Friday, August 10th, the hours will be as follows:

Monday: 9 - 12; 1 - 5 (Computer Lab - Basement)
Tuesday: 2 - 5 (Children's - Upstairs) 
Wednesday: 12 - 4 (Computer Lab - Basement)
Thursday: 1 -5 (Children's - Upstairs)
Friday: 1-5 (Children's - Upstairs)
