The library is slowly but surely getting free tax forms that were delayed due to the "financial cliff crisis." Forms are presently available in the main floor lobby of the library and will be moved to the Reference Department in the coming weeks.
In addition, accounting students from the University of Scranton and volunteers
from the United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties will be providing
free tax assistance to individuals and families whose household income is less than $49,000 a year.
The program kicks off Sunday, Feb. 3, at the university by appointment
only. Walk-ins at the campus will be available from Tuesday, Feb. 5, to
Wednesday, Mar. 20, and from Tuesday, April 2, to Friday, Apr. 5.
To make an appointment for Feb. 3, call 504-0614.
Assistance will also
be provided at seven other locations in the region, by appointment,
beginning in early February. The full schedule can be seen at
www.uwic.comhttp://www.uwlc.net/GetHelp/VITA_Calendar.htm.
Don't forget the deadline for filing Federal Income Tax is midnight on Monday, April 15th, 2013.
