Hands-On Health Interactive Exhibit in Reference Department Lobby

Have you ever wondered how much sugar is really in that bottle of Mountain Dew or see how much fat is in two doughnuts?  Have you ever seen a visual comparison of a pound of muscle and a pound of fat?  Have you ever seen a year's worth of tar caused by smoking?

The Reference Department is excited to be exhibiting a new interactive display titled Hands-On Health featuring 3-D models and nutritional facts to answer all of these questions and demonstrate how small changes can have a big and positive impact on your health.

Check out the Hands-On Health interactive exhibit in the lobby of the Reference Department.  It will be on display for the remainder of June and throughout July.

June Is "New Comfy Clothes for Teens" Collection Drive Month

For the month of June, we will be collecting new larger-sized comfy clothes (think sweatpants, sweatshirts, yoga pants, loose-fitting T-shirts) for the Children's Advocacy Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania, a child abuse intervention center.  The CAC gets plenty of donations for the younger children they serve.  However, they quickly run out of new comfy clothes for their teenage clients.  They need new clothes for these teens because the clothes they wear to the center are often used as evidence.  Thus, they need new comfy clothes to return home in.

Please be generous and donate at least one new item of comfy clothing for these teens in need.  Also, please tell your friends and neighbors about the clothing drive!
