Love, Loss and German Shepherds: Book Club Event With Author Allie Larkin (Stay) Tuesday, October 29th at 7 PM

Join us at the library for a fun night of book discussion with internationally best-selling author, Allie Larkin as she Skypes into our meeting to chat about her debut novel, Stay - a touching story of love, loss and dog ownership. She’ll be answering any questions we have about her writing process, the inspiration behind the book, and whatever else we want to talk about.

If we’re lucky, Allie’s beloved (and super cute) German Shepherd, Stella, may even make a special appearance!

The book club will be held Tuesday, October 29th at 7 PM in the Community Room (basement of Children's Library).

Tickets for Sebastian Junger Lecture Now Available At Circulation Desk

Tickets for the upcoming American Masters Lecture are now available at the circulation desk at Scranton Public Library, as well as all libraries in the Lackawanna County Library System. 

Bestselling author and Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmaker Sebastian Junger will be speaking Thursday, October 3rd at 7 PM at Scranton Cultural Center.  Tickets are free with your library card.

Scanton Reads October 2013 Events

"Proposal Writing Basics For Grantseekers" Free Workshop Thursday, October 10th

Albright Memorial Library will be presenting a workshop in October geared towards grantseekers and grantwriters.

Proposal Writing Basics for Grantseekers, presented by Dan Owens (Reference Librarian & Social Media Coordinator at the Foundation Center, Washington, D.C.) will be held Thursday, October 10th from 10 AM to 2 PM in the Reference Department.

Learn what to include in a grant proposal and what funders expect to see.  get tips for communicating with funders.  Learn how to make your grant proposal stronger.  View sample proposals and other grantwriting resources.

The workshop is free, but seating is limited and registration is required to attend.

Albright Memorial Library will be presenting a new program titled "Dead Authors Book Club". Each month, a book discussion will be held about a classic work of literature.  The book club is free with your library card.

Maker Mondays At Albright Memorial Library This September

Albright Memorial Library is featuring "Maker Mondays" every Monday in September.  Each event will introduce you to various arts, from cheese making to home brewing, to paper crafting and wood turning.
